The New York Yankees Clinch The ALCS!!!!!

It's official--The Yankees have won the American League Pennant! Their 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Angels last night in the Bronx, marks the 40th time in their illustrious history that they've reached this important milestone...

Some of the Game 6 highlights (For Yankee Fans, anyway) include:

  • A terrific performance by Andy Pettitte, who pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing only 1 run on 7 hits and just 1 walk...
  • A key 2-run single by Johnny Damon in the 4th inning to erase a 1-0 Anaheim advantage and put the Yankees out front 2-1...it was a lead they would not relinquish...
  • Mariano Rivera recording the last out by strikeout, and picking up the save...
  • Mental and Defensive blunders courtesy of Anaheim, specifically Vladimir Guerrero's base running gaffe in the 2nd when he got doubled off of first on a shallow fly ball to right field, and two errors in the 8th, one, by 2nd baseman Howie Kendrick, who dropped a ball while covering first, and the other, by pitcher Scott Kazmir on a throw to first...

A historic win for the Bombers who are now on their way to the World Series against Philadelphia. Game 1 will be in the Bronx on Wednesday night!

Additional Notes:

Joba Chamberlain pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief without allowing a hit...

Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez each had 2 hits...

CC Sabathia was awarded the ALCS MVP...He was every bit the ace of the staff, posting a 2-0 record in the series! There's no question that CC was deserving, but I think a Co-MVP was in order here--A-Rod and CC were both deserving in my opinion...

CC Sabathia will be on the hill Wednesday night in the Bronx for Game 1 of the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
