The ALCS Continues...

The Yankees could have clinched the ALCS last night in Anaheim...Down 4-0 in the 7th, they rallied to score 6 runs and take a 6-4 lead...they were oh so close...just 9 outs to the World Series...

Enter the bottom of the 7th, Girardi's decision to let A.J. Burnett remain in the game, Burnett's inability to retire the first 2 batters he faced, followed by Phil Hughes's failure to do his job. The result?

A 7-6 Angels victory and we've got a Game 6 Saturday night in the Bronx...

But at least it's in the Bronx and we've got a battle-tested Andy Pettitte on the hill...I like our chances!

Additional Notes:

Burnett had a rough first inning in which he allowed 4 runs, but then settled down till he ran into trouble in the 7th...all told he gave up 6 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 full innings of work...

Phil Hughes was ineffective giving up an earned run on 2 hits in just 1/3 inning of work...

Joba Chamberlain struggled as well, giving up 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning...only Damaso Marte and Mariano Rivera were effective in their respective relief stints...

Mark Teixeira and Melky Cabrera each had 2 hits...Teixeira had 3 rbi...Robinson Cano had 2 rbi...

Tomorrow, at Yankee Stadium, Andy Pettitte will be on the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!

ESPN.com has Game 5's ALCS box score.
