Yanks Take First Game Of Series With Marlins

Andy Pettitte pitched 7 strong innings on Friday night in Miami as the Yankees beat the Marlins 5 to 1...

Pettitte allowed only 1 earned run on just 3 hits and didn't walk anyone...an impressive performance for the veteran lefty...he even had himself a base hit...

The Yanks take the first game of the 3 game series with the fish...

Additional Notes:

The Yanks piled up 13 hits on the evening--the first 4 batters had 2 hits apiece, and everyone in the starting lineup had at least 1 hit...

Melky Cabrera had a home run...

Brian Bruney and Brett Tomko pitched a scoreless inning each, in relief of Pettitte...

Tomorrow, A.J. Burnett takes the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
