For the second straight night, the New York Yankees lost to the worst team in baseball. Hard to believe, but unfortunately true...And, as was the case on Wednesday night, they lost to a rookie--yesterday it was Lannan who had them looking lost, tonight they were stymied by Stammen...
Stammen gave up 6 hits and no runs in 6 1/3 innings of work...the Nationals relief pitchers didn't allow any runs either...
Final score: Nationals 3, Yankees 0
A shutout at the hands of the worst team in baseball...
Additional Notes:
Joba Chamberlain wasn't terrible, but not very sharp either, and certainly not economical with his pitches...He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 6 innings of work, running his pitch count to 100...
Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher got a couple of hits apiece, but other than that the Yankee offense didn't put up much of a fight...
Brett Gardner had to be taken out of the game after colliding with the center field wall in the 8th inning...he was alert as he left the field, so hopefully he'll be fine and back in the lineup against the Marlins...
Tomorrow the Yanks go to Florida to face the Marlins...Andy Pettitte will be on the hill...
Let's Go Yanks!
