Yanks Edge Nationals On 7th Inning Rally

CC Sabathia had one bad inning on Monday night against the Washington Nationals. But that inning--the 5th, where he allowed a 3-run home run--was enough to put the Yankees in a 3-2 deficit...that's how things stood entering the bottom of the 7th...

Then it was rally time...Johnny Damon singled, and scored on a Mark Teixeira double--that tied the score...

Robinson Cano followed with a double of his own, and that gave the Yankees a 4-3 lead...

In the 8th, Ramiro Pena added an rbi single for the 5th Yankee run...

The Yanks won the first game of the 3 game series with the Nationals 5-3...

Additional Notes:

Robinson Cano went 4 for 4 with 4 rbis...

CC Sabathia pitched 7 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits...

Mariano Rivera got the save...

Tomorrow Chien-Ming Wang takes the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
