Wednesday night in Atlanta, the first 15 Yankees to come to the plate were retired in order. But when Brett Gardner walked to lead off the 6th, perfection was denied, and the Yankees would go on to score 3 runs in that inning, including Francisco Cervelli's first major league home run, to finally break through against the Braves who had held them scoreless for 14 consecutive innings...
They scored in each of the remaining innings to beat the Braves 8 to 4...
Additional Notes:
Alex Rodriguez had a big 2 rbi single...Johnny Damon had 3 hits...Mark Texeira had 2 hits...Nick Swisher had a home run...
Joba Chamberlain pitched well, allowing only 2 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings of work...
Tomorrow, Andy Pettitte takes the hill...
