Power Surge In The Bronx Key To Yankees Win

On Monday night in the Bronx, in the final game of the rain-shortened series with the Rays, the Yanks relied exclusively on the long ball to defeat the reigning American League champions...

In the 5-3 victory over the Rays, Mark Teixeira, Nick Swisher, Johnnny Damon and Derek Jeter all homered...All besides Swisher's were solo shots...Swisher had a 2-run blast...

With the win, the Yanks take the series 2-1 over the Rays...

Additional Notes:

Andy Pettitte stumbled in the 4th inning, where he allowed 3 runs--2 of which were earned--but that was the only inning he allowed any runs in the 6 that he pitched...

Phil Hughes pitched in relief for the first time of the year, throwing a scoreless 7th...Coke pitched a scoreless 8th, and Mo a scoreless 9th for his second save of the series...

Tomorrow the Yanks will be in Boston for a big 3 game series against the Sox...A.J. Burnett will take the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!
