Yanks Win On 8th Inning Rally

The Yankees entered the bottom of the 8th inning of Sunday afternoon's game against the Rays down 3-1, but as they have done countless times before these season, they didn't give up without a fight...

The Yankees loaded the bases on singles by Damon and Teixeira and a then a walk by Rodriguez...

Cano walked to force in a run...Posada grounded out to score another run and tie the game...then Hideki Matsui grounded out to push across the tie-breaking and eventual winning run...

This comeback had a lot less fireworks than we've become accustomed too, but still resulted in a Yankees win...

Additional Notes:

Nick Swisher had a solo home run in the 3rd, which tied the score 1-1 at that point...

Joba pitched well from innings 1-5, allowing only 1 run on just 2 hits in those frames...he stumbled in the 6th allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in that inning...so his total on the day was 3 runs in 6 innings of work--good, but not great...

Alfredo Aceves pitched a scoreless 7th and 8th...

Mariano Rivera picked up the save...

Tonight, Andy Pettitte takes the hill against the Rays...

Let's Go Yanks!
