Marlins Hold Off Yankees 9th Inning Rally

Sunday night against the Marlins, the Yankees found themselves entering the 9th inning down 6-3. After 2 quick outs, Jorge Posada and Melky Cabrera each singled and that brought Brett Gardner to the plate...

Gardner tripled, scoring both Posada and Cabrera and giving the Yankees hope that this 9th inning rally would give them a chance...

But then Derek Jeter grounded out to the shortstop and with that the Marlins won the game and the series from the Yankees...

Additional Notes:

Sabathia was pulled early--The LoHud Yankees Blog reported that it was "bicep tendinitis."

Unfortunately, outside of Alfredo Aceves, who threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, the rest of the relief core wasn't particularly effective--particularly Tomko who gave up 3 earned runs in just 2 innings of work...

Brett Gardner went 2 for 4 with 2 rbi...Alex Rodriguez also had 2 rbi...

Tuesday, the Yankees start a 3 game series in Atlanta against the Braves...Chien-Ming Wall will be on the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
