The Joba Chamberlain experiment continued as planned on Sunday and although Joba left with 1 out in the 5th and the Yankees trailing the Royals 3-2, it was a success, especially when compared to his first start...
Joba registered 5 strikeouts against only 1 walk and his only big mistake was the slider he threw to Jose Guillen in the 3rd inning that ended up in the left-field seats...
Unlike his first start, Joba definitely exhibited better control on Sunday and his velocity remained consistent throughout as he threw 78 pitches on the afternoon...
Today, he made it to the 5th inning...Joba's making progress and in his next outing I see no reason why he couldn't make it to the 6th at least...
Additional Notes:
The offense continued to produce with Johnny Damon adding 2 more hits the day after he had 6-his average is up to .328...
Jason Giambi homered for the 2nd straight day...
Bobby Abreu had a home run and 3 RBIs ...
Alex Rodriguez had 2 hits and 2 RBIs...
Dan Giese relieved Joba in the 5th and was impressive...in 2 2/3 innings of work, he didn't allow a run...
Veras pitched a scoreless 8th...Mo pitched the 9th and earned his 16th save of the year...
Tomorrow we'll see if Moose can get his 10th win of the year!
GO YANKS!
