Hughes has been compared to Roger Clemens...Kennedy to Mike Mussina....Igawa they paid a king's ransom-and that was just for the privilege of speaking to him...
Among the 3 of them you won't find even a single win this season...
Darrell Rasner, on the other hand, hasn't drawn any such illustrious comparisons, nor pulls in the kind of salary that turns heads...Oh, and he's different in one other important respect-when he pitches, he wins!
On Saturday Rasner picked up his 2nd win of the season, in fact-and against an imposing lineup like the Detroit Tigers no less...
Rasner pitched 6 innings allowing only 2 runs on 4 hits, and surrendering but a single walk...
By comparison, on Friday, Kei Igawa gave up nearly 3 times as many hits in half the innings that Rasner pitched on Saturday...
Darrell Rasner is pitching like he belongs in the Bigs...if he keeps pitching like this he'll be a fixture in the rotation for sure...
Additional Notes:
Derek Jeter hit his first hr of the year to help the Yanks to a 5-2 victory...
Mariano Rivera picked up his 10th save of the year...
Mo hasn't allowed a run this season-not a single, solitary run!
Tomorrow Pettitte pitches...
GO YANKS!
