The calendar has been trying to tell him that it's almost time to wind it down. The radar gun has been making the case too. But if Mike Mussina hasn't been listening lately, it might be because it's hard to hear anything over the deafening "Moose calls" that the promise of victory brings about...
On Saturday, Mussina won for the 3rd time in as many tries, his effort eliciting enough cries of "Moooose!" to convince even the skeptical that perhaps the 39 year-old's resurgence is for real...Limiting the Mariners to only 1 run over 6 innings, Moose finished strong, striking out the side in his last inning of work...
If Moose is experiencing a resurgence, so too is Johnny Damon who had 3 hits-2 doubles, a home run and 3 rbi's on the afternoon. Derek Jeter also had 3 hits...Hideki Matsui, Melky Cabrera and Bobby Abreu all had 2 hits apiece...
The Yankees scored 5 runs yesterday and 6 runs today...looks like the Yankee offense is starting to move in the right direction!
Additional Notes:
The bullpen did it's job again...this time the trio of Hawkins, Ramirez and Veras-each pitched an inning without allowing a single run...
Tomorrow we'll see if Darrell Rasner can make a case for a spot in the rotation...
GO YANKS!
