Friday night the Yankees played the kind of game we've rarely seen from them this season. It was one of their biggest offensive outbursts of the season as they scored 13 runs on 13 hits including an 8 run 5th inning...
What makes this offensive display even more impressive is the fact that they did it largely against a more than capable left-handed pitcher...Erik Bedard is no slouch, yet the Yankees knocked him out of the game in the 5th...offensively things are starting to turn...you get the feeling that the Bronx Bombers are back in business!!!
This 13-2 victory over the Mariners is the 3rd in a row for the Yanks!
Additional Notes:
Although Pettitte struggled early he managed to recover and finished strong. He allowed only 2 runs through 6 innings with 9Ks to get the win...
LaTroy Hawkins pitched a scoreless 7th and 8th and Edwar Ramirez hurled a scoreless 9th...
If only the bullpen continues to put up numbers like these...
Offensive stars included Shelley Duncan (3-run hr), Hideki Matsui (3 hits and 2 rbi), Robinson Cano (2 hits and 3 rbi), Bobby Abreu (2 hits and 3 rbi) and Jason Giambi who had 2 hits...
Tomorrow we'll see if Mike Mussina can bounce back from his previous start...
GO YANKS!!!!
