Finally! A Comeback Win!

It's hard to believe it took 47 games to do it-but on Thursday night the Yankees staged their first comeback win of the season...

After trailing behind the Birds 1-0, the Yankees tied the score in the 4th on a Shelly Duncan sac fly...the score remained that way till the bottom of the 9th...

Matsui led off the inning and promptly singled to left, but then Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi both struck out...the latter strike out sparked an argument between Joe Girardi and the home plate umpire, for which Girardi got ejected...another first for the season...

Then Abreu walked, sending Matsui to second and bringing Robinson Cano to the plate ...

Cano, who has struggled for most of the season, delivered a clutch, two-out base hit that scored Matsui and won the game...

A Comeback, Walk-off Victory in the Bronx for a change!

Additional Notes:

Ian Kennedy needed a good performance and got it, pitching 6 innings while holding the O's to just 1 run...

Veras in the 7th, Farnsworth in the 8th and Mo in the 9th were outstanding...

If Veras and Farnsworth can make it a habit to pitch this well in the late innings we might not worry so much about losing Joba in the pen...let's keep our fingers crossed...

The Yankees throw Pettitte against the Mariners tomorrow night...he needs to do better than his last couple of starts-he will!!!!

GO YANKS!!!
