Pettitte Manages To Stave Off Rays In Yankee Win

Good pitchers usually win on nights when they have their best stuff. Pitchers the caliber of an Andy Pettitte manage to win even on nights their "A" game forgets to show up. Such was the case Tuesday night as Pettitte struggled, but still picked up the win in the Yankees 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Pettitte surrendered 9 hits and 3 walks, yet only allowed 3 runs in his 7 innings of work. Farnsworth pitched the 8th-retiring the side in order, no less-and Mo closed it out in the 9th.

Derek Jeter had 3 hits and Hideki Matsui homered to power the offense.

Tomorrow night Boston! We took 2 in Tampa, now let's take 2 at home against the Sox! GO YANKS!
