Yesterday in Minnesota, the New York Yankees defeated the Twins 4-1 and in the process swept them 3 games to none in the American League Division Series...
Much of the game was a pitcher's duel between Andy Pettitte and Carl Pavano...In the 6th, the Twins struck first scoring a run off of Andy Pettitte...but then in the 7th, the Yanks got to Pavano...Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada each hit solo homers, giving the Yanks a 2-1 lead...
It was a lead they would not relinquish...the Bombers went on to score 2 more in the 9th and secure the 3 game sweep with Mariano Rivera picking up the save...
The Yanks will battle the Anaheim Angels in the ALCS...
Additional Notes:
Andy Pettitte pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 3 hits...
Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes combined for 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief...
Jorge Posada had 2 hits and 2 rbi...
Friday the Yankees will start the best of seven ALCS against the Angels, in the Bronx...CC Sabathia will be on the hill...
Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
