Inauspicious Start In Anaheim

Monday afternoon's game 3 of the ALCS between the Yankees and the Angels was a nail biter that unfortunately didn't go the Pinstripes way...

Playing in Anaheim is rarely easy for the Pinstripes and the 3rd game of the ALCS proved no exception... The game ended in the 11th inning when, with 2 outs, Howie Kendrick hit a single followed by a Jeff Mathis double that gave the Halos a 4-3 win over the Yanks...

Additional Notes:

Andy Pettitte pitched well--except for the 2-run hr he gave up in the 6th...in total, he threw 6 1/3 innings, surrendering 3 earned runs on 7 hits...

Phil Coke, Damaso Marte, Dave Roberston and Mariano Rivera were effective in relief...Mariano Rivera was particularly masterful...he came into a difficult situation in the 10th and Houdi'd his way out of it...

Joba Chamberlain and Alfredo Aceves, however, did not fair well in their relief stints...

A strange move in the 11th, when Joe Girardi took replaced Dave Robertson who had retired the first two batters, with Alfredo Aceves, who face two batters and didn't record an out, leading to the Angels win...

Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada and Johnny Damon all homered, but ultimately it wasn't enough...Posada and Robinson Cano had 2 hits each...

Tonight, CC Sabathia will be on the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!
