The Yankees came close to sweeping the Blue Jays yesterday--but fell short...Down 7 to 1 in the 6th inning, they rallied for 5 runs in the last 3 innings--just 1 run shy of tying the game...
In the 7th, Nick Swisher had an rbi single that made the score 7-3...A bases loaded walk to Derek Jeter in the 8th made it 7-4...and in the 9th Hideki Matsui had 2 rbi single to cut it to 7-6 which would be the final score...
Although the Yankees lost the game 7-6, they still took the series 3 games to 1...
Additional Notes:
Andy Pettitte pitched into the 7th but did not record an out in that inning...in total, he pitched 6 innings allowing 6 earned runs on 5 hits and 5 BB--not one of his better performances....
Bruney pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing a run--he just doesn't seem ready yet...Robertson and Albaladejo didn't allow a run in their relief stints...
Nick Swisher had 3 hits...Eric Hinske hit his first home run as a Yankee...
Tonight the Yankees start a 3 game series in Minnesota against the Twins...CC Sabathia will be on the hill...
Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
