Andy Pettitte just didn't have it today--plain and simple. And the Mets took advantage to the tune of 5 runs on 12 hits till he was relieved in the 6th...Such did Pettitte labor that his pitch count had swelled to 104 by the end of the 5th...
Not vintage Pettitte, to say the least, and with the way Nieve pitched for the Mets, the Yanks were shut down early in this one...
Final score: Mets 6, Yankee 2...so they're both even at one apiece...
Additional Notes:
Alex Rodriguez had a home run in a losing effort...
Aceves gave up a run in two innings of relief...Veras gave up none in his two innings of work...
Tomorrow the Yankees send A.J. Burnett to the hill against Johan Santana...
Let's Go Yanks!!!!
