Teixeira Powers Yanks Past Twins

On Monday night in the Bronx, the Yankees completed a 4 game sweep against the Minnesota Twins thanks in large part to Mark Teixeira's 2 home runs. In the first inning, Teixeira hit a 3 run blast to give the Yanks a 3-2 lead. Alex Rodriguez followed that with a solo hr and the Yanks scored a couple more in the frame to take a 6-2 lead at the end of 1 inning...

But Minnesota battled back the entire game...

In the 7th with the score 6-4 Yanks, Teixeira provided--as it would turn out--a much needed insurance run with a solo shot to right field...the Twins scored 1 run in the 8th and another in the 9th, so Teixeira's second home run was the difference in this one...

Final score: Yankees 7, Twins 6

With the 4 game sweep the Yankees have now won 6 in a row...

Additional Notes:

Andy Pettitte pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 12 hits...

The bullpen of Veras, Ramirez and Coke struggled but managed to hold on...

Tonight the Yanks face the Orioles...CC Sabathia will be on the hill...

Let's Go Yanks!
