Joba's Debut Fails To Live Up To The Hype

The much ballyhooed first major league start of Joba Chamberlain was, when it was all said and done -not much to get excited about. Joba, on a tight pitch count, didn't make it out of the 3rd. In 2 1/3 innings of work he allowed 1 run on 1 hit and 4 walks.

On a positive note, he did have the lead when he left and the only hit against him was an opposite field single by Scott Rolen...

Joba's major issue in his debut was his control-or rather his lack thereof, but then, when you're the biggest story in New York, it's kind of hard to have control over anything...

I think Joba will be fine going forward, but I do wish they had finished "stretching" him in the minors...I think that would have made for a smoother transition to the rotation...

Hopefully, he'll go further in his next start!

Additional Notes:

After a productive first inning where the Yankees scored 2 runs, they could only muster 1 run the rest of the game against Halladay and the Blue Jays' bullpen...

Once again, the Yankees' bullpen failed to keep things close-most notably Edwar Ramirez who uncharacteristically gave up 4 earned runs in relief....

How will this bullpen be fixed?

Tomorrow we need a great outing by Moose-hopefully we won't have to go to the 'pen too early...

GO YANKS!
