Wang Out-Dueled By Lee

This was one of those games where if you had predicted the outcome based on the stats you would have been right...specifically, if you paid attention to both starting pitchers' ERAs.

Though both Chien-Ming Wang and Cliff Lee were undefeated prior to Wednesday night's game between the Yankees and the Indians, they had strikingly different ERAs. Wang had a good ERA at 3.00, but Lee's, at under 1.00 was decidedly better-phenomenal in fact.

Sure enough, ERA would have been a good predictor of the final result...Lee didn't allow so much as a run in 7 innings of work against the Yanks. Wang, on the other hand allowed 3 in the same amount of innings against the Tribe.

It's tough to lose a game where you allow only 3 runs in 7 innings, but that was the case Wednesday night as the Yanks dropped this one 3-0 and Wang suffered his first loss of the season.

This one was on the offense...Wang pitched well enough to win-Yankee bats let him down...

Additional Notes:

Hideki Matsui extended his hitting streak to 16 with single in the second...

Farnsworth pitched another scoreless inning in relief...

Tomorrow Moose takes the hill...Let's hope he gets some run support!

GO YANKS!
