Even Joba's Not Immune To The Rain

When William Wadsworth Longfellow wrote, "Into each life some rain must fall," the rain he was referring to was figurative, not literal. On Thursday night in Chicago, the Yankees unfortunately got a dose of both.

First, they got the kind that delayed the game and forced Phil Hughes to cut short what looked to be the makings of a promising performance-then they got the other, decidedly more bitter kind-they lost the game in the bottom of the 9th-and with ace reliever Joba Chamberlain on the mound, no less!

For Joba Chamberlain, it was his first loss in 26 major league appearances. I'll say that again: His first loss in 26 appearances!

Unexpected, and shocking because he's already attained mythical status in NY.......but that's baseball...it will happen again...we'll see how he picks himself up...my gut says he'll shrug it off...

May this be the only rain to fall into Joba's life...

As for the rest of the pitching...Ohlendorf had one good inning and then an inning from hell...Hawkins gave up the obligatory home run...Farnsworth surprisingly had a 1-2-3 inning...

As for offensive highlights...down 6-3 in the 6th, Melky Cabrera belted a 2-run hr (4th of the year already) and Morgan Ensberg tied it with a single in the 7th...Giambi and Abreu had 2 hits apiece...

Disappointing loss, but not a disappointing series...We took 2 out of 3 in the Windy City!

Tomorrow night Cleveland and Andy Pettitte on the mound...revenge for the ALDS-GO YANKS!
