Yanks Strike First

The last regular season meeting between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, got off to a great start for the Yanks Friday night in the Bronx...

Joba Chamberlain finally had a good start, pitching 6 innings allowing only 3 runs...

Alex Rodriguez led the offense with 3 hits including a home run--he also knocked in 4 runs...

With the 9-5 victory, the Yankees' magic number to clinch the American League East now stands at 3!!!!

Additional Notes:

Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, Hideki Matsui, Jorge Posada and Robinson Cano each had 2 hits...

Tomorrow, CC Sabathia will be on the hill...

If the Yankees sweep, they will clinch against the Red Sox...
