Yanks Edge Halos 5-3

The Yankees pulled off a double steal in the 8th inning of yesterday's makeup game against the Angels, that was crucial to the Yanks' 5-3 victory...

After Mark Teixeira doubled, and Alex Rodriguez walked, Brett Gardner ran for Teixeira, and the double steal was on...an errant throw enabled Gardner to score and the Yanks led 4-3...

Later in the inning, Robinson Cano singled in another run to make it 5-3 and it with Mo pitching in the 9th, it would stand up...

Additional Notes:

Joba Chamberlain pitched better than he had on his previous few starts...against the Angels he threw 4 innings allowing only 1 earned run on 4 hits...

Alfredo Aceves allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 1/3 innings of relief...Phil Coke threw 2/3 of an inning without allowing a run...Phil Hughes struggled in the 8th, allowing 1 run on 2 hits...Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 9th, picking up his 40th save of the season...

Mark Teixeira had 3 hits...Nick Swisher had 2 hits including a home run...Robinson Cano had 2 hits...

Tomorrow, the Yankees will start a 2 game series against the Blue Jays in the Bronx...Sergio Mitre will be on the hill for the Yanks...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
