Victory In Anaheim!

After squandering a 5-0 lead against the Angels yesterday, the Yankees were in danger of losing their 5th straight game in Anaheim this year...

But Brett Gardner's speed in the top of the 9th was the difference in this one...he singled, stole second, got to third on a Johnny Damon sacrifice bunt, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Alex Rodriguez...

So the Yanks managed to win one in Anaheim! And on a night they also clinched a playoff berth!

A win today, and they could take the series in Anaheim...when is the last time that happened?

Chad Gaudin pitched 4 scoreless innings before running into trouble in the 5th...in total he threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits...

The bullpen of Aceves, Marte and Hughes wasn't particularly effective--especially Aceves...

Mariano Rivera got his 41st save of the season...

Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada and Hideki Matsui all homered...Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano had 2 hits apiece...

Today, A.J. Burnett will be on the hill...
