Last night in Seattle, with the Yankees leading the Mariners 2-1, Mariano Rivera struck out the first two batters he faced in the bottom of the 9th...Just one more out separated him from his 41st save of the year, and a Yankees' victory...
Just one more...
There wasn't even an inkling of the reversal of fortune that he and the Yankees were about to experience a mere two pitches later...
The first pitch produced a double off the bat of Mike Sweeney...Ichiro Suzuki took care of the second pitch, depositing it in the right field stands and winning the game for the Mariners...
It took just two pitches...
Mo, the rest of the Yankees and their fans could only watch in disbelief...
Additional Notes:
Too bad Mo couldn't save this one, because A.J. Burnett pitched well...he allowed only 1 run in 7 innings of work...Phil Hughes pitched a scoreless 8th...
Johnny Damon had 3 hits...
Tonight, CC Sabathia will be on the hill...
Let's Go Yanks!!!!!
