Yanks Fall Prey To 6th Inning Bird Attack

The ghosts couldn't be too pleased. First, on Thursday night, Manny Ramirez passes Lou Gehrig for 24th on the all-time home run list-and at Yankee Stadium, no less. Then, last night, on the 85th anniversary of the very first game ever played in the "House that Ruth Built" the Yankees drop a game 8-2 in-where else? The Babe's home town of Baltimore!

Like I said, the ghosts couldn't be too pleased-and speaking of which, if the young pitchers + Moose don't turn things around soon, it'll be Joe Girardi and all of us Yankee fans who'll be white as ghosts!

I keep expecting a good outing from Hughes only to be disappointed again and again. Tonight, it was good, if you count just the first 5. Unfortunately in the 6th the Birds pecked away at him one single at a time until he'd had it...but, before we give up on the kid...

I did a quick check over at baseball-reference.com and was surprised that Hughes pitched as well as he did last September. The Yankees won every game he pitched in September-and let's not forget when he relieved for Clemens in the ALDS...it's difficult, I know, because this is NY, but we must not give up too soon...

As for the Yankee offense...just when will it show up and stay awhile? Gehrig and Ruth, it's not...yet.

Tomorrow night it's Kennedy's turn-let's hope he can step up! GO YANKS!
