The Drought Continues In Boston

On Wednesday night in Boston, the New York Yankees lost to the Red Sox for the 7th time in as many tries...

Chien-Ming Wang was unable to return to the form that made him a 19 game winner in 2007 and 2008...this was his second start in a row with lackluster results...tonight he couldn't make it out of the 3rd inning...he gave up 4 runs on 6 hits in 2 2/3 innings...

Was it wise to start Wang against lineups like the Rangers and the Red Sox, if building his confidence was the goal?

In my opinion, I don't think so...I would've had him make his first start against the Nationals next week...

Additional Notes:

Despite the early deficit, the Yanks mounted a comeback...in the 7th inning Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira hit back to back home runs to make it a 6-5 game...unfortunately that's the way the score would remain...

Phil Hughes wasn't bad in relief--his only mistake a Kevin Youkilis home run...

Tomorrow CC Sabathia takes the hill with the Yanks still looking for their first win against their arch rivals...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!

Building Wang's confidence was never the goal.
The reason why they started Wang against lineups like the Rangers and the Red Sox was to kick him out of Hughes's way once and for all.
